Dear Students and Parents at The Grove School,
We’re pleased to share some exciting news about a fundraising program for our organization. It’s called “scrip”, and it’s the fundraising program that works while you shop.
Scrip is simply a word that means “substitute money” – in other words, scrip is gift certificates from national and local retailers. They’re the same gift certificates that you buy at the store. Many popular retailers participate in our scrip program including JCPenney, The Gap, Shell, Pizza Hut, Red Lobster and many, many others.
You’re probably asking yourself how these stores help us raise money. It’s simple -- scrip participating retailers agree to sell gift certificates to our organization at a discount. Member families like yours buy the certificates for full face value, they redeem them for full face value, and our school keeps the difference as revenue. And scrip is exciting, because everybody wins:
· The retailer gets cash up front and repeat business…
· You get a powerful fundraising alternative that involves no selling…
· Our school gets a regular source of revenue.
The beauty of scrip is that you put your regular household shopping dollars to work. You earn money for our school without spending a single additional penny. Just spend your regular shopping dollars with scrip at the stores that participate in the scrip program! And scrip can be used for just about any household purchase including food, clothing, entertainment, gasoline and even dining out.
How do you buy scrip?
Every Friday morning on the Farm Campus between 7.30 and 8.15 we will be selling Stater Bros, Gerrards, Arco, Loma Linda Market, Krikorian movie tickets. Every first Friday of the month we will place an order with Great Lakes Scrip. Go to www.shopwithscrip.com and take a look at the hundreds of retailers that offer scrip. Order online by creating a family profile (our school ID number is E84A9EB112897). Then you pay cash or write a check to The Grove School PTG, and without any additional costs to you, you generated funds for the school and your students personal spending.
But now there is more: Money back for your student!
The Grove School is working on a NEW rebate sharing program that will generate cash back to you for your family's scrip purchases. As you buy, we will keep track of the profit generated by your family and 30% of that profit will go into your student(s) account. At the end of each trimester, on your request, we will transfer that money to the school and you will be able to use your scrip rebate towards school costs such as Winterims, yearbooks, farm almanac, fieldtrips, prom. Make sure you take advantage of this opportunity. Unused funds may be carried over into the next school year. Unused funds by families no longer enrolled at Grove will be put into the program support fund from The Grove Schools PTG.
